A village by the sea

Xylokeratidi is one of the three settlements of the port of Katapola (the other two settlements are Katapola and Rachidi).
It is one of the traditional settlements of Amorgos with alleys, steps and construction of buildings strictly based on the Cycladic tradition.

Xylokeratidi has long been the area where the fishermen of the port lived and all those involved in professions of the maritime tradition.

Now, next to the fishing shelter, and along the coastal road, small businesses have developed, restaurants inspired by the new trends of Greek gastronomy, sophisticated cafes and bars, having made the area one of the most famous on the island.

Xylokeratidi stands out for its lively atmosphere, for the view towards the sunset, as well as for its ideal position against the strong summer winds, the meltemi.
